Recruiting More Golfers for your Golf Tournament
In the case of people playing in your tournament, less is not more. More is more! So what’s the key to success in your quest to max out the field? Ask! Ask! Ask! Ask your neighbors, co-workers, friends, family and yes…even strangers; post a flyer at the golf course, supermarket, fitness center…wherever they’ll let you! Ask people already signed up to ask their neighbors, co-workers, friends and family. Ask people who don’t play golf to ask their neighbors, co-workers, friends and family who do play. Ask at any of your other events and fundraisers. As for when to start asking, start at THIS YEAR’S tournament: “Thank you all for coming. We’re passing out a sign-up sheet for next year’s outing…and giving 10% off the green fee’s to anyone who signs up NOW!” From that day forward…you and the committee are in full “asking” mode. When someone you ask says “no”…it doesn’t end there: “Well, do you know anyone who might want to play and help us out?” Always have a flyer in hand when you ask…you may not get another chance! And don’t be stingy with thos flyers! Give a couple out each time; one for them, and one for them to pass on to a friend!
